Driving Licence Documents & Application Guide

A Driving Licence (DL) is an official document authorizing you to operate a motor vehicle or two-wheeler in India. Issued by the Regional Transport Office (RTO), it is mandatory under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Getting a DL is a two-step process: first obtaining a Learner’s Licence (LL) and then a Permanent Driving Licence.

Common Mistakes That Cause Jitters

Vehicle Issues during Test

Ensure your vehicle indicators, brake lights, and horn work perfectly. Bring the RC, Insurance, and PUC of the vehicle you use for the test.

Expired LL

The LL is valid for 6 months. If it expires, you have to start over.

Wrong Class of Vehicle

Don’t apply for a car licence if you only learned to ride a bike. Apply for the correct class (MCWG, LMV, etc.).
